Pocket Person-You will get to select an explorer to research then make him/her in 3-D. You will make pockets to stick your information in.
Biome books- This is a project about the 6 major biomes. It is a pop-up book which is a very fun project. The biomes you will study are: Tropical Rainforest, Temperate Rainforest, Tundra, Taiga, Desert, and Grasslands. (Remember, always go above and beyond)
Cross-Stitch- You will make a pillow and make your own design to put on it. After you’re done stitching, you will stuff the pillow and close it off. You can have your fellow classmates sign the pillow if you wish.
Sip-N-See-This is the major project of the year. You will get to choose an animal to research. You will start with a display board, make a 3-D object, include a piece of technology, a graph, and a topper. Make sure you know your presentation well; parents will be coming to watch this wonderful project!
Native Americans- You will randomly pick an Indian tribe and create a poster sharing information note cards (make sure to include pictures, too). You will make a border on your board and matting is always nice.
Minor Projects
Rubber eggs- Rubber eggs is a very exciting project, but it takes 5 days to complete. Your egg will go through very interesting changes throughout the week.
Puff mobiles- This project is one of the best. You will have 1 piece of paper, 10 straws, 3 or 4 wheels, and as many pins as you need. You will have a race when done to see which car can travel the farthest in a given amount of time. Borax crystals - This project is fun because you get to make your own design out of crystals. You will stick your design in water mixed with borax soap. When you come back the next morning, your crystals will be done.
Humdingers - This is a very challenging project. It will take time and patience. You will work with a partner to create a sound that goes ”Hummmmm, DING.”
Go-karts - This project includes the saying “The Bigger the Better.” This is because you will get to make your go-kart with any size wheel you want.
Leprechaun traps-You will bring in boxes and shiny stuff of all sorts. You are going to have a partner to help you with this project and create a trap to capture a leprechaun. Then, you leave the trap out over the weekend, and hopefully you can catch this slippery character.
Legos- Legos are a very fun privilege. You will get to make 10 different things out of Legos. You will have the Legos for one week. On the last day, you will get to make anything you want.
